The object of this message board/forum is to enjoy yourselves.
Unfortunately, rules are instrumental to keeping this place fun for all. Please read and understand each rule below.
1- Each character or organization that you wish to play must have a separate account. (ex.: If you wish to play both Superman and Poison Ivy, you must "register" each name.) This makes it incredibly easy to tell characters apart, especially who's who during dialog.
2- Each character must be approved before game-play. We wish to portray the DC universe as semi-accurate as possible. Stories will take the characters elsewhere. In order for this to happen, players must write out and post a moderate-length bio for each character they wish to play. These will be approved/denied by a moderator at their discretion. Lay-outs for the bios can be found in a later post in this section.
Please check the List of Approved Characters to see if your choice is still available. This helps moderators to understand where the player wishes the character to go, how they will react, and their knowledge of the said character.
***Note on characters***
If there is enough to warrant it, a character may be put up for evaluation. This means that if you have been playing a character that two or more other players feels is not an accurate portrayal, the Moderators will review your posts. The Moderators will contact you and speak with you about the intentions of the character and the plot. This is so the integrity of the character is honored.
3- The number of characters a player may control is unlimited. However, if you can not at least post once within 2 months with each character, you may be asked to relinquish control of them. This allows other players the opportunity to try their hand at the character. Besides, they are just sitting on the shelf at this point.
4- Control of a character is in the hands of their player. You cannot move, direct, push, react, etc for another character that is not under your control. This may often happen during fight scenes. (ex.: Superman pulls his arm back and punches Lex Luthor across his office. As Lex gets up, Superman flies straight at him.) In the example, Superman is not controlling Luthor. To say that Lex gets up, or that his punch even connects with Lex is not Superman's player's choice.
In these cases, players are asked to use the "give-take" idea. Be humble with your characters. Not every punch may meet its mark, not every plan may work out, not every foe may get up on cue. To plan out longer battles or plots, we encourage players to contact each other and work together for the sake of the game and of fun. This helps to ensure that everyone will enjoy their time on the board.
5- Cursing is allowed. With the exception of racial or gender disrespect. We do ask that cursing be kept to a minimum. In the case that a character's vocabulary warrants excessive use, you may wish to re-think using them. Please keep true to the characters. It is highly unlikely that Superman would have a "potty-mouth". This helps to keep a general PG-13-ish rating on the board.
6- When posting, there is a 1 paragraph minimum. For some players, this is their hobby. They may spend hours writing their posts. It is very frustrating to receive a reply consisting of a single sentence. Some players are not as well versed and cannot write long posts. We ask that they try to be as descriptive as possible, to expand their writing skills. This gives everyone something to read and helps develop story-telling abilities.
7- Warnings will be distributed. We ask that players attempt to resolve any conflicts between themselves. If you are intimidated to communicate or the situation cannot be resolved, please contact one of the moderators. We will assist anyone with this. If it warrants, warnings may be issued to those who violate the rules of the board. The number of violations before expulsion will be accessed on a player by player basis. This is to ensure that players and the board are being treated with respect.
8- Original characters are welcomed. Creativity is essential to the comic book industry. Please, try not to directly copy or clone an established character. Another Green Lantern is fine, a new Flash is interesting, a "parallel universe" Kryptonian is a plot device. This allows people with original ideas have fun.
9- Characters from other comic companies may be approved on a character by character basis. The setting in which the board is built is DC. Players wishing to play characters from other companies (ex.: Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, etc.) may be approved. A moderator will determine if the character is appropriate for the DC universe. If approved, the character may be played in an Crossover labeled thread. This is so players can have fun with characters other than DC and the continuity of the board can be preserved.
Note About Worlds
If there is a player that needs another world or area provided that is not currently available, please contact a moderator and we will be happy to create a new one for you. The reason why we do not have every possible world/area here is because it would be a waste of space. Worlds will be created upon request.
Legal Stuff
Not fully official.
The operators and players of this board do not claim ownership of DC or their established characters, plots, organizations, etc. This site is intended for fans to share in the enjoyment of the characters through a rough form of "fan fiction". Original characters are assumed to be entirely original and are owned by their creators.
